A Film To Promote The Global Unification Of Hip-Hop Culture

We have to come here to Kickstarter on a crusade to fund the development of the 2nd installment of a 4-part series of artistic short films meant to illustrate Hip-Hop Culture as a true bona-fide form of artistic expression that is not always simply a reflection of anger, violence, and /or hostility. With these films, we can help promote the positive attributes of Hip-Hop Culture, and support a new grassroots effort to bring the world its first Global Hip-Hop Cultural Census-led by the National Museum of Hip-Hop. The goal of the Census is to not only unify and measure the global size of Hip-Hop Culture, but it will also be used to determine where the Museum will be located. This data will also eventually help to significantly influence REAL political change within impoverished communities around the world.

Our main goal in the creation of this film series is to present Hip-Hop in a way that does not adhere to any of the negative connotations so often associated with the genre. By doing so, hopefully we can illustrate the artistic side of Hip-Hop Culture; taking the viewers back to the root of the Culture; when the true essence of Hip-Hop was the expression of self through POSITIVE creative art--and not so much perpetuating a seemingly industry-wide status quo of violence, female degradation, and general exploitation of inner-city communities in a continuous effort to satisfy corporate greed.

The film you have viewed above is called "The Conductor". It is the 1st installment (DJing) of the 4-part film series; each film representing an original element of Hip-Hop Culture. Each film will represent all four hip-hop elements in some fashion, but only one element per film will be highlighted. The 2nd installment (which is what we are looking to fund here at Kickstarter), will highlight the B-Boy Element and will be titled "The Clean-Up".

The budget for "The Conductor" was well over $20,000. It took us about a year to do, but we managed to put together a team of true professionals and hardcore fans of hip-hop-all putting in extra time and effort-all in the name of finally securing a home for the preservation of Hip-Hop Culture. You may be asking yourself...how in holy hell did we come up with that kind of scratch?!?!?? Well, many people had to do a lot of sacrificing to make it happen! In fact, it took dual efforts from executives within two different NYC firms to finally bring it to fruition. All of these executives pretty much put there jobs on the line (and if not for the superb turnout of the film and all the critical praise it has received, they all might have lost their jobs!) by taking our project on as a "quasi" client; using as much of their companies budgets as they could legally squeeze out; including camera and sound equipment, studio rental, and location rental-the rest (props, travel and talent) had to be scraped together by the team.

Realizing how close everyone was to losing their heads shooting the 1st film, we know we will certainly need to have a full budget in place to shoot the 2nd installment! Your contributions will help us cover equipment & complete production as well as editing phases. (Please note-NO funds will be used to compensate any NMoH Team members-dont worry, we're used to it! lol-ALL funds are going directly to the pre-and post-production of the film) Funding will also help secure an amazing shot location-through the popularity of our 1st film we were offered a great deal on being able to shoot "The Clean Up" at the World-renowned American Museum of Natural History! Lastly, your contribution will help us premiere the film at the Union Square W Hotel which will be promptly followed by a party that will include appearances by some surprise hip-hop celebrities (courtesy of the National Museum of Hip-Hop). Of course you know this will be as hot a ticket as any in New York when we launch it and as such, you know we had to offer some entry tickets as one of our many dope Kickstater rewards for contributing! Yeaaaaa boyyeeeeee! (hint! hint! hahaha-yea that's right, he IS down with the Museum and already secured for the jam! That is, of course, IF we can raise enough $ to make the film!)

Alas, we are so happy and thankful we were able to put together this 1st film, so that you could see first hand that you are dealing with some seriously passionate folks who are not only artists, but who are also professionals that will make good use of any funding that they may be blessed with receiving via Kickstarter. So please hook us up!

Oh yeah, and every contribution is tax-deductible (minus the market value of the gift). Any funds raised that exceed our stated goal will be imperative for the completion of the film. Also, we put the minimum at $5 for this project; anyone who wants to donate $1 please do so via the DAD Campaign on the nmoh.org website. Thanks!

Other super-financially challenged folks can still represent their support by joining us on facebook at facebook.com/hiphopmuseum or following us on twitter at twitter.com/nmoh.

Thank ya'll for your support and LONG LIVE HIP-HOP!!!! PEEAAACE!!!
